Create a Loving, Safe, and Fun Home Environment For Your Family
Kids desire to be loved. They want to feel safe and to have fun. Each child should be able to experience this in life. As parents, we can create a home environment that is loving, safe, and fun for our family. Here are some ideas to inspire you to create this type of home environment for your children.
Creating a home filled with love requires that it be done with words and action. As parents, we can verbally tell our children that we love them every day. We can give them hugs. We can spend quality time with them by doing activities together with them that they enjoy. We can be patient with them when they make mistakes. We can encourage them when they feel sad and insecure. We can help them do their best and live up to their full potential.
It’s so important that we teach our children about God’s love and that we model it to them. When they see us showing them God’s love it will encourage them to show love to members of the family and to others.
Establishing a home that is safe is important. Children should feel secure in their own home. They should not feel afraid or threatened. There are ways we can help bring this to life. We can do this by creating a peaceful home. One that isn't full of drama or aggression. A place where a child is free to make mistakes and be corrected in a safe way.
There should only be people entering the home that do not cause a threat to everyone’s safety. For example, it would not be wise to invite someone to your home who is violent or has a drug addiction problem. If children are constantly around that type of behavior, there is a chance they will grow up thinking that dysfunction is normal and that safety is not a priority. Depending on a person’s family or living situation, professional help might be needed to achieve this.
Another way to keep our home safe is by doing our best to keep it clean and orderly. Regularly cleaning the home keeps away germs and bacteria which can cause illnesses. Decluttering and organizing the home prevents hazards and injuries. For example, if a home has toys and objects all over the place, someone can trip and hurt themselves. We can have our kids participate in the cleaning process by giving them age-appropriate chores to complete ( and follow through with removing privileges if they refuse to complete them).
Keeping a clean home helps our mind to be at peace and helps us to enjoy being in a safe environment. Just like we would want our work environment to be clean, we should make sure our homes are clean.
Having a home that is filled with fun is also essential. Kids love to play. You can set up your home to be enjoyable for them. You can purchase toys, games, crafts, and books for them. And they don't have to be expensive. You can even find fun activities at the dollar store. Kids are creative when given the chance, and can be inspired to make their own games.
Music is another way to create fun in a home. There are so many positive songs that you can stream for your kids to fill their mind with good things and to help them learn. Some fun music artists for kids are Orange Kids Music, Have Fun Teaching, Danny Go, and others. There are also positive adult songs that you can play with content that is safe for kids to listen to. I have a variety of playlists on my phone with songs my family and I can enjoy together. I love to play music in the background while my kids are playing and when we are eating meals. It uplifts our spirits and puts us in a good mood.
It’s funny because once I overheard my kids looking for me. And one of them said “Did you listen and follow the music?” Most of the time I have music playing from a speaker or directly from my phone in my back pocket. So they usually listen for the “music trail” to find me. Lol.
Isaiah 32:18 in the Bible says, “My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.” We can obtain this by intentionally doing what is necessary to get it. It will not just happen. We have to take the necessary steps to make our home loving, fun, and safe.
There are other ways you can make your home into a loving, safe, and fun environment for your family. You can look up other ways online and pick ones that you think will benefit your family. I also want to add that staying connected to God is essential to your family’s well-being. Praying, reading the Bible, and listening to positive content will help you in keeping safety, love, and fun in your family. The way your home is set up is a model for your kids. I hope you are encouraged to create the right environment for yourself and your family- one that everyone wants to come home to in order to escape the worries of the world. Remember it will take planning and work, but it’s so worth it. All things are possible throughout Christ!
